Humanity in Action 2017 Benefit

November 6, 2017 - Humanity in Action will hold its annual benefit on Monday, November 13, 2017. Hosted by Barbara and Eric Dobkin, the benefit is themed In Conversation: Threats to Democracy.

The benefit will feature an informal conversation with three esteemed speakers – Karen J. Greenberg (Director of the Center on National Security at Fordham University), Jeffrey Rosen (President of the National Constitution Center) and Michael Slackman (International Editor, The New York Times) – to lead guests in a discussion of today’s most pressing national and foreign policy challenges. Senior Fellow Paull Randt will introduce the evening.

The Evening's Speakers

Karen J. Greenberg 

Director, Center on National Security – Fordham University

Karen J. Greenberg is the director of the Center on National Security at Fordham University School of Law. She is the author or editor of six books. Her latest book, Rogue Justice: The Making of the Security State, which explores the War on Terror's impact on justice and law in America, was published in May 2016. 

Jeffrey Rosen 

President, National Constitution Center

Jeffrey Rosen is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Constitution Center, the only institution in America chartered by Congress “to disseminate information about the United States Constitution on a non-partisan basis.” He is also a professor at The George Washington University Law School, and a contributing editor for The Atlantic

Michael Slackman 

International Editor, The New York Times

Michael Slackman was named International editor of The New York Times in September 2016. Before that, he had been the managing editor of International since November 2014. He is in charge of the international news report over multiple times zones and oversees Times bureaus around the globe.
